COLUMBUS – Former Northwest defender
Shelbi Box will have a new home this season after joining the program at MUW over the summer.
A native of Caledonia, Box spent one season with the Lady Rangers, playing and starting in all 15 contests last season. As a defender, her only offensive stats came in the division opener last season at Hinds, where she took two shots.
Prior to Northwest, Box helped Caledonia to a 13-2-2 overall record, a 6-0 mark and championship in Region 3-4A and the first round of the Class 4A state playoffs as a senior. She was named Defensive Player of the Year as a freshman, junior and senior and led CHS to an undefeated Region 3-4A record and championship as a junior.
Box is the only member of last season's squad to move on to the four-year level and joins a long line of former Lady Rangers to continue their careers at The W, including
Samantha Weinberg,
Mary Catherine Hutchens and
Mackenzie Fennell in recent years.
MUW compiled a 10-7-1 overall record in 2019 and advanced to the first round of the USCAA Championship Tournament, falling to the University of Maine at Fort Kent.
