FORT WORTH, Texas – Ahead of what is expected to be a stellar junior season in 2020, former Northwest and current TCU tight end
Pro Wells has been named to Athlon Sports' preseason second team All-Big 12 list.
This comes after Wells stood out during his sophomore campaign with the Horned Frogs last fall, where his five touchdown catches tied for team-best while placing sixth with 17 receptions. The St. Petersburg, Fla. native also played in all 12 games last season, starting in five of the last six contests. As a result, he earned second team All-Big 12 honors by the Associated Press following the conclusion of the 2019 season.
Wells also saw limited time as a redshirt freshman in 2018, playing against Southern, SMU and against Baylor, where he gathered his first two collegiate receptions for 12 yards in a 16-9 win against the Bears.
As part of a 2017 Northwest squad that finished as the MACJC runner-up while earning an appearance in the Graphic Edge Bowl, Wells ranked as the No. 4 JUCO tight end nationally while helping the Rangers to an 8-3 overall record. During his one season with Northwest, Wells caught 19 passes for 304 yards and two touchdowns.
