Angel Hailey Signs with University of Montevallo

SOUTHAVEN – After spending the 2019 season with the women's soccer program at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, former Northwest goalkeeper Angel Hailey has settled on a new home for the 2020 season with the University of Montevallo.

Hailey signed with Montevallo on Wednesday afternoon alongside her family and friends.

In her only season with the Lady Warhawks, Hailey logged 641 minutes and collected 35 saves against 16 goals. Her only winning decision came in a 1-0 victory against Southern Miss on Sept. 1, 2019, where she played a full 90 minutes and collected a season-high 11 saves.

ULM finished the season at 3-13-2 overall and went winless against Sun Belt Conference opponents.

In her two seasons with the Lady Rangers, Hailey established herself as a reliable force between the posts, shattering the school record for saves with 255, just edging out the previous school record of 252 set by Ashley Nelson during the 2014-15 seasons. Her 9.11 saves/game also ranks first all-time at Northwest, while her .870 save percentage and 1.85 goals against average ranks third and fourth, respectively.

Spending most of her freshman season as a reserve, Hailey still compiled 65 saves in 13 games with five starts. She also finished with a 7-1 record and helped Northwest to an 11-6 mark and the MACJC semifinals.

Hailey started 19 of 28 career matches in net, posting a 10-10-1 record with nine combined shutouts in 1,850 minutes of action. She added her lone assist of her career in a 4-2 win over East Central this season.

A native of Southaven, Hailey led the NJCAA and MACJC in 2018 with 190 saves to go along with an .848 save percentage and 2.49 goals against average in nearly 1,230 minutes.

Off the field, she was an NJCAA and MACJC All-Academic Team selection and three-time honoree on Northwest's Vice President's List.

Montevallo finished 14-4-4 last season and advanced to the NCAA Division II South regional after going 2-1 in the Gulf South Conference tournament.
