HILLSBORO, Ore. – Although Northwest had its season debut canceled last week after Mississippi Delta declined to participate, the Rangers still checked in at No. 14 nationally in the first "Dirty 30" rankings of the 2020 season.
Compiled by national JUCO recruiting site JCGridirion.com, the "Dirty 30" rankings also include other NJCAA and CCCAA programs, despite the MACCC being the only conference to field teams this fall. According to the site, a national champion could be selected after the rest of the country plays its spring schedule.
Northwest was also ranked 14th prior to the start of the season. The Rangers were also ranked 10th nationally by College Football America and No. 11 by Street & Smith's over the summer.
Mississippi Gulf Coast leads all other MACCC programs at No. 2 in this week's poll, while Jones College checks in at No. 3. East Mississippi and Copiah-Lincoln round out MACCC representation by being ranked No. 9 and No. 24, respectively, despite EMCC's decision to also cancel its fall season.
Garden City (Kansas) is ranked No. 1, but will not play until the spring.
Northwest has an open date for this week and will open the season on Thursday, October 15 against Itawamba. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Bobby Franklin Field. General admission tickets will not be available but the game can be viewed with live video and live stats on nwccrangers.com/watch.
