BOONEVILLE – Northwest sophomore linebacker Dee Rule has been named MACJC Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday morning.

Despite last Saturday's 22-19 loss in the MACJC Championship to Mississippi Gulf Coast, Rule was part of an aggressive effort from the Northwest defense, finishing as one of three Rangers with 10 or more tackles.

Rule accounted for a career-high 15 total tackles (8 solo), while also managing a tackle-for-loss and a forced fumble.

A native of Lake Cormorant, Rule is tied for second on the team with 59 total tackles and also has 3.5 TFLs, three pass breakups, three hurries, an interception and a sack.

Rule is the fourth Ranger to earn conference POTW honors this season but is the first Northwest defender to receive the award.
