CHARLOTTE – After racking up three receptions for 144 yards and three touchdowns in a road win at East Mississippi, Northwest freshman receiver
Cameron Wynn has been named Offensive Player of the Week by the NJCAA, the organization announced Wednesday afternoon.
This latest accolade comes less than 36 hours after earning Offensive Player of the Week recognition by the MACJC. He is the first Northwest player this season to be named Player of the Week by either organization.
Wynn became the 10th Ranger receiver to earn three receiving touchdowns in a single game and the first to achieve that milestone since Lance Ray did it twice in 2011.
Through six games, the Chattanooga, Tenn. native has blossomed into one of the Rangers' primary targets in the receiving corps, hauling in 11 catches for 250 yards and five touchdowns.
Wynn has also been a viable threat on special teams this season, returning 11 kicks for 290 yards. Five of those came for 156 yards in a close loss at Holmes two weeks ago.
Northwest (5-1, 2-1 MACJC North) will host Coahoma for Homecoming on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. at Bobby Franklin Field.
