SENATOBIA – There will be a new pair of voices gracing the airwaves for Northwest football radio and online broadcasts this season, the sports information department recently announced.
Jeremy Kennedy and John Luke McCord will be on the call for Ranger football this season, with Kennedy handling play-by-play duties and McCord providing color commentary. The duo will replace the previous broadcast pair of Graham Doty and John Darnell who called games from 2013-16.
"We want to thank Graham and John for their contributions the last four seasons," eighth-year sports information director
Kevin Maloney said. "We are thrilled to bring Jeremy and John Luke on board, who bring a high level of energy and passion for the game of football and will help us reach and engage a larger target audience for Northwest football."
Kennedy joins Northwest from the Jackson-based High School Football Network, a job that he will continue to do on Friday nights this season. Prior to joining HSFN last fall, he served as the play-by-play voice for Northeast Mississippi Community College, handling Tigers' broadcasts from August 2013 until the spring of 2016 on WNAU-AM and NEMCCTV.com. The Oxford native received his degree in broadcast journalism in 2009 from the University of Mississippi.
A familiar staple of the high school sports scene in Mississippi, McCord is a co-host on "Mississippi Sports Today" that airs weekday mornings on SuperTalk 95.9, WCNA-FM in Tupelo. The Tupelo native is regular contributor to Southern Elite Sports and its collegiate-themed spinoff, SES University, along with several other publications, such as The Rebel Walk, Rivals and 247sports.com.
Northwest football will enter its third season on WHKL-FM "Country Legends 106.9" out of Batesville. The station will carry all nine regular season games alongside any postseason games, in addition to a pregame show that will air 30 minutes prior to kickoff and a postgame wrap-up immediately following each contest. Fans will also be able to watch every game in high definition at
nwccrangers.com/watch.
Northwest will kick off the 2017 season by hosting Hinds on Thursday, August 31 at Bobby Franklin Field.
