DeMareo Marr Signs with PIFL's Dallas Marshals

MESQUITE, Texas – Former Northwest defensive back DeMareo Marr has signed to play for the Dallas Marshals indoor football team, continuing a long trend of former Rangers in professional football.

The Dallas Marshals, who changed their name from Mesquite Marshals after its inaugural season in 2016, play in the Champions Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) and in Mesquite Arena, home of Mesquite Championship Rodeo. The PIFL season runs from March–June.

Marr has been chasing the dream of playing in the NFL since he left Senatobia after the 2006-07 seasons and has had cracks at the CFL over the past few years while spending a ton of time with D1 Sports Training.

Most recently, Marr earned an invite and was one of the top performers at the Toronto Argonauts' free agent tryout in 2015 and played semi-professional football for the North Texas Freedom Fighters from 2012-15.

An Olive Branch native and former DeSoto Central standout, Marr was rated the No. 75 JUCO player in the nation by SuperPrep, ranked as the No. 11 JUCO prospect in Mississippi by the Sun-Herald and was a member of The Clarion-Ledger's Top 25 JUCO recruits list. He was a three-star prospect by both Scout.com and Rivals.

After helping lead the Rangers to back-to-back MACJC playoff appearances, 11-1 division record and a north division championship, Marr signed a national letter of intent in 2008 to play at Ole Miss for Houston Nutt.

Marr was with the Rebels for back-to-back AT&T Cotton Bowl Championships in 2009 and 2010 and graduated from Ole Miss in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in liberal arts with three minors in African American studies, History and English.

He spent the 2011 season at Midwestern State, helping the Mustangs reach No. 1 in the polls and win the Lone Star Championship with a 10-1 record. Marr saw action in nine games at corner, free safety and in nickel and dime sub-packages.
