Trio of Former Rangers in NFL Training Camps

SENATOBIA – Three former Northwest Rangers are suiting up in NFL training camps beginning this week.

Cornerback Treston DeCoud, wide receiver Myles White and offensive tackle Donald Hawkins have all reported with their respective teams and will look to solidify their roles for the upcoming season.

Selected as the 25th pick in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans, DeCoud started 21 career games at cornerback at Oregon State and earned Pac-12 Conference Honorable Mention last December. The Covington, La., native made 108 career tackles during his two-year OSU career that included being named Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week last September following his two interceptions in the win over Idaho State. He tallied 15 career pass breakups.

In his lone season at Northwest in 2014, DeCoud had 38 tackles, two blocked kicks, a forced fumble and tied for the MACJC lead with six interceptions (third in the nation) en route to All-American, First Team All-MACJC and NJCAA All-Region 23 honors. His 13 passes defended also ranked in the Top 15 in the NJCAA.

A native of Livonia, Mich., White has joined the New York Jets for training camps after prior stints with the Buccaneers, Giants and Packers. Signed as an undrafted free agent in 2013 from Louisiana Tech, White has played in 19 regular-season games so far, compiling 16 receptions for 154 yards. He spent two seasons in Ruston, playing in 22 games and reeling in 86 receptions for 1,132 yards and nine touchdowns, earning Second Team All-WAC honors following his senior season.

Prior to Louisiana Tech, White spent the 2010 season in Senatobia and led the Rangers in receptions (53, sixth nationally), yards (712) and touchdowns (six) in an offense that ranked 10th nationally at 413.6 yards per game. He was named First Team All-MACJC and All-Region 23 during his only season at Northwest.

Signed as an undrafted free agent with the Eagles in 2014, Hawkins will join the Kansas City Chiefs in this year's training camp following stints with the Browns, Cowboys, Dolphins, 49ers, Panthers and Jets. The Tunica native started 24 of his 25 career games for the University of Texas from 2012-13 and was selected as an NJCAA First Team All-American during his sophomore campaign at Northwest in 2011.
