ORLANDO, Fla. –
The Northwest sports information office was honored by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) with two national awards for excellence in publications at the 60th annual CoSIDA Convention this summer.
"This is a huge honor for our department and at the same time gets Northwest Mississippi Community College the national recognition it deserves," sports information director
Kevin Maloney said. "I take a lot of pride in everything that is produced in our office, and when you receive awards like this, it just means that your peers also notice and appreciate the hard work."
Northwest took home top honors in the College division in the category of multi-sport guides, as the 2017 baseball/softball media guide was named "Best in the Nation." The 2016 football media guide was named "Third in the Nation" behind a pair of NCAA Division II institutions, Tarleton State and Washburn University.
Maloney has now received 12 national awards by CoSIDA and 15 from the College Public Relations Association of Mississippi (CPRAM) for his work with publications, social media and print media over the last seven years. Assistant SID
Brian Lentz is entering his third year at Northwest and is also a big reason for the success.
