BOONEVILLE – For the sixth time in his career and the second straight week, Northwest sophomore kicker/punter Drake McCarter has been voted as the MACJC Special Teams Player of the Week.

McCarter was honored for his efforts in the Rangers' 67-66 double overtime loss to No. 1 East Mississippi in the MACJC Championship last Saturday.

The Saltillo native was perfect on 10 kicks against the Lions, connecting on 9-of-9 PATs and a 30-yard field goal to account for 12 of the Rangers' points, moving him into fourth all-time in total points scored (147) at Northwest.

He also averaged 41.7 yards on three punts, with one inside the 20, and 56.8 yards on nine kickoffs.

McCarter and No. 4 Northwest (8-2) will await its bowl destination, which is expected to be revealed later this afternoon on Twitter by the NJCAA.
