Levi Nunnally Named MACJC Women's Soccer Coach of the Year

RIDGELAND – After leading the Lady Rangers to a nine-game turnaround in 2017, Northwest's Levi Nunnally has been named the MACJC Women's Soccer Coach of the Year.

"I'm extremely humbled and honored to be voted coach of the year by my peers in the MACJC," Nunnally said. "It's a big honor, but all the credit goes to my team. They are deserving of this award for all their hard work, sacrifice and determination this season. I'm happy to share it with them."

Nunnally guided the Lady Rangers to an 11-6 overall record (4-4 north) and MACJC semifinal berth this season, a year after going just 2-9-1 overall. Ten of Northwest's 11 wins came via shutout.

The nine-game turnaround ties the largest in program history. Northwest went from five to 14 wins during the 2005 and 2006 seasons in which Peter Jarjoura was also named the MACJC Women's Soccer Coach of the Year.

Nunnally is 34-35-10 overall at Northwest in five seasons with three MACJC playoff appearances.

A native of Southaven, Nunnally spent the 2008-12 seasons as the women's assistant coach at Young Harris College (Ga.), where the Mountain Lions went a combined 52-30-5 and made the playoffs twice before transitioning from junior college to a four-year college.

He played college soccer at Itawamba where he made the NJCAA All-Region XXIII Team and was named team captain his sophomore year. He continued his soccer career at Tennessee Wesleyan where the Bulldogs won the 2001 Appalachian Athletic Conference and Region Championship to qualify for the NAIA National Tournament.
