SENATOBIA – Northwest freshman Carson Tackett has been selected as the MACJC Goalkeeper of the Week, the league announced Tuesday morning.

Tackett added NJCAA Division I National Goalkeeper of the Week honors on Wednesday.

In nearly 100 minutes of playing time, Tackett collected nine saves and allowed one goal in the Rangers' 2-1 overtime victory at Holmes last Friday in Ridgeland.

Tackett ran his season saves total to 80, which is tied for 12th in the NJCAA.

A Flowood native, Tackett posted 14 shutouts and a 0.17 goals against average while helping Northwest Rankin to a 23-1 overall record last season. His efforts helped lead the Cougars to the 2016-17 Class 6A state championship and to a second team all-state selection.

Tackett and the Rangers (2-5-1, 1-4) will host East Central on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
