CORVALLIS, Oregon – Former Ranger and NJCAA All-American cornerback Treston DeCoud enters his senior year at Oregon State University, one of numerous Northwest standouts playing at the FBS level.
A native of Hammond, La., and Lakeshore High School, DeCoud is listed at 6-foot-3, 208-pounds and rated a 3-star prospect by 247sports.com and the No. 4 JUCO cornerback in the country (34th nationally).
He had 38 tackles, two blocked kicks, a forced fumble and tied for the MACJC lead with six interceptions (third in the nation) in 2014 at Northwest en route to All-American, First Team All-MACJC and NJCAA All-Region 23 honors. His 13 passes defended also ranked in the Top 15 in the NJCAA.
DeCoud came to Northwest after two seasons at Chadron State and a spring at Nicholls State, redshirting the 2012 season and playing in 10 games in 2013.
No matter how difficult certain moments of our lives get, those experiences often shape who we become. The same can be said about DeCoud, who battled more adversity than anyone could ever imagine.
Ben Creighton shares the OSU senior's story which includes how Treston was passed around among family members, dealt with his mom being diagnosed with breast cancer as well as how grateful he is for his time at Oregon State and going through many challenges.
