SENATOBIA –
Abigail Morales will continue her soccer career beyond Northwest, as the sophomore forward signed with Freed-Hardeman University on Monday.
Morales, a native of Olive Branch, is the second Lady Ranger in the
Levi Nunnally era to continue their career at the next level, following teammate
Kayleigh Sims' commitment to Millsaps.
"Abby has been a great player for our program both on and off the field," Nunnally said. "She's a tireless and relentless worker and will continue to give nothing but her best effort for coach (Jason) Elliott and the FHU program. I am proud of her for taking this next step in her soccer career and wish her, the Lady Lions and coach Elliott the best of luck next season."
Over the course of her two seasons in a Lady Ranger uniform, Morales played and started in 34 contests, missing only two games as a freshman. An MACJC All-Conference selection as a freshman, Morales scored a team-leading 15 goals and added four assists for a team-best 34 points. She also led the team in several other categories, including shots (69), shots-on-goal (38) and game-winners (five).
Morales finished her Northwest career with 19 goals, 69 shots-on-goal and six game-winners. She also garnered NJCAA All-Region 23 honors following her sophomore season.
Freed-Hardeman, located in Henderson, Tenn., competes in the American Midwest Conference of the NAIA. The Lions finished 8-7-2 last season and reached the semifinals of the AMC Tournament.
