MERIDIAN – Freshman
David Raymundo's first career goal in the 5th minute was all the Rangers needed in cruising to a 2-0 win over the Meridian Eagles Tuesday afternoon at C.D. Smith Field.
Northwest posted its third shutout of the year to move to 6-3-1 overall while Meridian dropped to 2-4-1.
The Rangers attacked early and often, out-shooting the Eagles 24-9 and putting tons of pressure on goal with 13 corner kicks against only two for Meridian. Eight different Rangers fired at least one shot.
Raymundo's goal at the 4:28-mark helped the Rangers hold a one-goal lead until
Lance Crabtree's team-leading eighth goal of the season in the 53rd minute off an assist by
Jonathan Felix.
Matthew Williams posted four saves to post his third career clean sheet.
Northwest will look to keep the momentum going on Wednesday at Co-Lin. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
