BOONEVILLE – After helping the Rangers to a 51-14 win over Northeast last Thursday night, sophomore running back Justin Crawford has been selected the MACJC Offensive Player of the Week.

The weekly conference award is the fourth of his standout Northwest career and first this season.

Crawford, a product of Hardaway High School (Ga.), accounted for 244 all-purpose yards and four scores against the Tigers. He rushed for 138 yards and two touchdowns (49, 55 yards) on just 11 carries and added two receptions for 106 yards and two touchdowns (62, 44 yards).

The 2014 NJCAA Second Team All-American is chasing multiple career records this season, needing 335 rushing yards to become the school's all-time leading rusher and 549 all-purpose yards to break a 21-year old record held by former NFL first round draft choice John Avery (3,067 all-purpose).

This season, Crawford has rushed for a league-best 398 yards and three touchdowns and has hauled in eight receptions for 150 yards and two scores. With 51 rushing yards, Crawford will become the seventh Ranger in school history to eclipse 2,000 career yards.

Northwest travels to Itawamba for a 7 p.m. kickoff Thursday, Sept. 17 in Fulton.
