JACKSON – Following an outstanding season that produced 12 wins and an MACJC Tournament semifinal appearance, three members of the Northwest men's soccer team have been awarded postseason accolades.
Freshmen
Lance Crabtree,
Bryant Young and
James Longmire were each named All-MACJC, with Crabtree also collecting NJCAA All-Region 23 honors.
Crabtree, a forward, started every game for Northwest and finished his stellar debut season by leading the team in nearly every category, including goals scored (16), shots (82), shots-on-goal (44), and game-winners (8). He also added five assists to finish with 37 points and was named MACJC Player of the Week twice this season.
Starting all 20 games as a midfielder, Young was second on the team in scoring this season, netting six goals with seven assists. He also had the game-winner in a 1-0 victory at Itawamba in October.
Playing a crucial role on defense for Northwest, Longmire helped the Rangers to six shutouts, the most since 2003. He started all 20 games this season and scored twice, taking six shots-on-goal.
Northwest finished the season at 12-7-1 overall, tying a program record for single-season victories. The Rangers fell to eventual conference champion and NJCAA Tournament competitor Pearl River in the MACJC Semifinals.
