SENATOBIA – Sophomore defender
Kayleigh Sims made it official during Thanksgiving break of where she'll continue her soccer career, committing to play for head coach Sarah Arsenault at Millsaps College next fall.
Millsaps is located in Jackson and competes in the Southern Athletic Association in NCAA Division III.
Sims played at South Pontotoc High School prior to Northwest and is the first Lady Ranger in the
Levi Nunnally era to continue their career at the next level, a trend he hopes will continue.
"I'm very proud of Kayleigh for continuing her education and soccer career at Millsaps," Nunnally said. "Kayleigh has been a huge asset to our program. Not only has she performed well on the field, she's excelled in the classroom also. It's been a joy to coach her these last two years and I wish her all the best."
Sims started all 36 games of her career at Northwest on the back line, helping the Lady Rangers to a school-record 11 shutouts and first-ever national ranking her freshman season.
Off the field, Sims has made the President's List all three semesters at Northwest and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society. She's carrying a perfect 4.0 GPA in elementary education with a focus in math and science.
