Box Score SENATOBIA – Northwest scored three first-half goals and never looked back in a 3-0 win over Copiah-Lincoln Tuesday afternoon to remain unbeaten on the year in nine matches.
Northwest improved to 7-0-2 overall while Co-Lin dropped to 0-10 on the year.
Brooke Lester broke a scoreless tie in the 20th minute, netting her third goal of the season after chipping it over the keeper's head from almost 40 yards out.
Just 1:04 later, Northwest's lead grew to 2-0 when
Abigail Morales scored her team-leading 12th goal of the year on a double assisted effort from
Tristan Kitchens and
Kayla Boutwell.
Sophomore
Alex Williamson scored her first of the season in the 43rd minute, from
Garrison Pounders, to make it 3-0 Lady Rangers at the half.
Northwest owned a 39-6 shot advantage (14-2 shots-on-goal), led by 14 chances from Morales and nine from sophomore
Holly Newman.
Ashley Nelson stayed perfect and needed just two saves to earn her seventh shutout of the year. Destiny Allen had 11 saves for Co-Lin.
Northwest will host 12th-ranked St. Charles (7-1) and Eastern Oklahoma State (1-6) on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 27-28 as part of a weekend tournament.
