Webster to Work S.D. Chargers’ Training Camp

SAN DIEGO – Northwest defensive backs coach Jonathan Webster is receiving the opportunity of a lifetime.

The first-year assistant coach will work San Diego Chargers training camp, which begins Wednesday at Chargers Park in San Diego, as part of the Bill Walsh Minority Internship. Webster will work with the Chargers from July 22 to Aug. 8 and will be with the team for their first preseason game against Dallas on Aug. 7.

Webster's duties in San Diego will revolve around special teams and he will prominently be involved in cut-ups and film breakdowns off the field and will work with the punt teams, punt returners and corners on the field. He will be working alongside Chargers' assistant secondary coach Greg Williams, who also coached Webster during his collegiate career at Arkansas Tech.

"It's going to be 24/7 football," Webster said. "They're all going to be getting ready for the season and the things that I will be doing is not only preparing during training camp, but also to get them ready for the first few games of the season. I'll have a couple evenings where nothing is scheduled, so what little time that I do get off, I hope to enjoy and take in San Diego. This internship is going to be a great opportunity for me."

While he is looking forward to the experience, Webster has no intentions of leaving Northwest in the near future.
