Box Score ELLISVILLE – Northwest used three second half goals to break away from a 1-0 halftime lead and run away with a 4-1 win Tuesday afternoon over Jones County.
Northwest snapped a six-game losing streak to the Bobcats in the win, with the last victory coming on Sept. 2, 2003 in Ellisville. The Rangers improved to 5-6 on the year, while JCJC dropped to 4-5.
Mamadou Mbaye broke a scoreless tie in the 26th minute, blasting a shot into the lower right corner off a
Karim Mueller assist. He added his second of the match in the 52nd minute to make it 2-0 Rangers.
JCJC pulled within a goal in the 58th minute when Colby Krost headed in a Souleymane Diakite cross into the upper right corner.
Northwest would respond less than 5 minutes later on
Armando Barron's goal off an Mbaye assist.
Ryan Maniccia netted his first goal in the 74th minute, from former Bobcat
Aaron Stoeger, to make the final 4-1.
Northwest owned a 16-11 advantage on shots and 4-3 edge on corner kicks.
Josh Delgado had two saves in net in a clean first half, while
Matthew Williams played the final 45 minutes and also had two stops. Gabe Brown had eight saves for JCJC and allowed all four goals.
Northwest will enjoy a week off before hosting division-leading Itawamba (8-1, 2-1) on Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 4 p.m.
