CALEDONIA – Senior midfielder
Lydia Cross of Caledonia High School has signed her national letter of intent to play soccer for
Levi Nunnally and the Northwest Lady Rangers next season.
"Lydia is a good addition to the middle part of the field," Nunnally said. "She is a really hard worker and will contribute well at the defensive mid position."
Cross has played in 50 games the past three seasons for head coach Jason Forrester, logging over 2,900 minutes and scoring six goals and adding six assists.
Off the field, Cross is involved in numerous clubs and organizations including the Beta Club, Anchor Club, National Honor Society, Art Club and Spanish Club. She has also been a member of the honor roll all four years and is a Mississippi Scholar.
Cross is the third player from Caledonia to sign with Northwest this year, joining teammates
Sarah Jo Murphy and
Brooke Lester. The trio will join sophomore
Taylor Renth next season, a former Lady Confederate.
"We all play different positions, but we all play in the middle," Cross said. "It is like Brooke, then me, then Sarah. It was kind of surprising they all decided to go to Northwest. At first, I thought I was going to be the only one, but then they decided we were all going to go together. It's nice I'm going to have some of my best friends up there with me."
