Northwest Picks up Gulf Coast Sophomore Transfer, Sarah Bishop

SENATOBIA – Head coach Peter Jarjoura and the Northwest Lady Ranger soccer program filled another roster spot on Monday afternoon, signing Mississippi Gulf Coast sophomore transfer Sarah Bishop.

The signing pushes Northwest's 2011 women's soccer roster size up to 18 players, with two out of state spots still available.

Bishop played her freshman season as a defender for MACJC south member Gulf Coast, who finished at 11-4-1, placed second in the south division and advanced to the second round of the state playoffs.

A three-year player and graduate with honors at Horn Lake HS, Bishop played midfield for the Lady Eagles and also was a two-time all-conference nod on the track team in the 800m and pole vault.

"This was a really good opportunity to keep playing closer to home," Bishop said. "I want to help this team win a state championship and get a ring. I'm hoping to have a team that gets along well and connects on the soccer field."

Bishop will be listed as a defender on the Lady Rangers' 2011 roster, but is a versatile player who could see time at several other positions.
