COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – After tying a career-high with 10 saves in a 3-2 road win at Itawamba last week, freshman goalkeeper John Denton of Ecru, Miss., has been named the NJCAA Division I Goalkeeper of the Week for games played Sept. 12 through Sept. 18. | NJCAA Release

Denton had seven of his career-tying 10 saves in the first half, helping the Rangers start 2-0 in north division play for the first time since the 2003 season.

A product of North Pontotoc High School, Denton improved to 4-2-1 in net for the Rangers after Tuesday's 1-1 double overtime draw with East Central, adding four more saves to give him a total of 42 on the season (26th nationally).

Northwest will put its four-game unbeaten streak on the line Saturday, traveling to Hinds for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
