ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Michael Lindsey, a former NJCAA First Team All-American wide receiver at Northwest Mississippi CC, has signed a two-year contract extension with the AFL's Tampa Bay Storm.
“This is just a start to what we believe will be a very productive exclusive period where we'll be able to lock-in the core of our team prior to heading into free-agency,” vice president of football operations Jeff Gooch said. “Michael has the ability to change the outlook of a game in one play. We are excited to have him back in Blue and Gold.”
The 6-foot-1, 210-pound native of St. Petersburg signed a two-year contract in October that runs through the end of the 2014 season. Lindsey prepped locally at Boca Ciega High School and joined the Storm prior to the 2011 season after an impressive showing at an open workout.
He set the franchise single-season record with 1,745 kick return yards his rookie season and battled through injuries in 2012 to add another 1,082 kick return yards. Lindsey has returned four kickoffs for touchdowns in his career. He also has 84 career receptions for 804 yards and 10 touchdowns.
In his lone season in Senatobia, Lindsey caught 52 passes for 1,060 yards and 13 touchdowns. He had seven 100-yard receiving games, including a career-best 234 yards receiving against Mississippi Delta.
