SENATOBIA – On the second day of open signing day for junior college soccer, Northwest and head coach Peter Jarjoura picked up seven men's soccer commitments as part of a celebration get together on Sunday in the Hall of Fame room.
"We were very fortunate the second day of signing day to be able to get seven guys to commit," Jarjoura said. "It was a great day for us and we had close to 50 family members and returning players here to celebrate. This is something we plan to do every year."
Players who committed on Sunday were Zach Farmer (DeSoto Central), Fletcher Martin (Corinth), Juan Martinez (Corinth), Anthony Fernandez (New Albany), Edgar Santana (New Albany), Gabriel Fernandez (New Albany) and Raynier Diaz (North Pontotoc). Two more are expected to commit in the coming weeks.
"We want these parents to feel comfortable with us and know we'll do everything in our power to help their kids. The ones that were able to take the campus tour really enjoyed it and we're looking forward to having them and their kids on campus in the fall."
Northwest finished the 2012 campaign at 5-7-1 overall and 1-6-1 in north division play.
