The Rangers finally broke through in the 80th minute when Kaufman netted his first career goal to pull the match within 2-1. Terrazas' shot was saved by Gabe Brown, but Kaufman grabbed the rebound and fired it in for the goal.
With the clock winding down under a minute, Northwest had one final chance for the game-tying goal when JaMarcus Ducksworth took down a Ranger player and drew a yellow card less than a foot outside the box. But the time ran out and the Bobcats escaped a last-minute rally.
Brown had seven saves and allowed one goal in net for JCJC, while
Taylor Thevenot had several key stops in the first half in finishing the day with nine saves.
Northwest's 7-4-2 mark is the second-best in school history by win percentage.
