Lady Rangers Close Regular Season in Style

Box Score DECATUR – The Northwest women's soccer team closed out its best regular season finish since 2006 in style on Tuesday, posting a 2-0 shutout win at East Central.

Northwest improved to 8-3-2 overall and 4-2-2 in the north and posted its second shutout in three matches.

Alex Jones scored what eventually would be her third game-winner of the season in the 20th minute off a Holly Newman assist to give Northwest a 1-0 lead they would take into the half.

Alex Williamson then made it 2-0 in the 52nd minute when she took a rebound off the shot of Newman and scored it for her second goal of the season.

That's all the Lady Rangers would need as Morgan Wilson stopped all seven East Central shots-on-goal and improved to 6-2-2 between the posts. Alana Turner had nine saves for the Lady Warriors.

Northwest has locked in the North's No. 3 seed and will travel to South No. 2 Pearl River (11-4) on Tuesday, Oct. 29 for the quarterfinal round of the MACJC Tournament. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
