Box Score SENATOBIA – After falling behind 1-0 in the first 2 minutes, Northwest responded with four unanswered goals to pull away for a 7-2 victory Tuesday afternoon at the Ranger Soccer Complex.
Northwest matched the seven goals scored against Co-Lin back on August 24 and has also matched its longest winning streak since 2006 (four games).
Northwest improved to 7-2 overall with the win, while Co-Lin fell to 0-12-1.
Mollie Simpson scored for the Wolfpack just 1:54 in for the early lead before
Alex Young and the Lady Rangers responded exactly 11 seconds later to tie it at 1-1.
Holly Newman netted her team-leading eighth goal of the season just 4:17 later and assisted on
Alex Jones' goal at the 15:11-mark to give Northwest a 3-1 lead at the half.
Jones made it 4-1 early in the second, heading in a
Bree Francis cross.
Co-Lin pulled within 4-2 at the 69:28-mark when Daniela Orozco connected off a penalty kick.
From there, Northwest added goals by Francis in the 75th minute,
Kristin Young in the 76th and
Alex Williamson in the 90th minute to pull away for the 7-2 win.
Newman assisted on four of the Lady Rangers' seven goals in the match and had the one goal to give her six points in the victory.
Morgan Wilson had eight saves in improving to 5-1 on the year (reigning MACJC Defensive POTW) while Ashley White and Orozco split time in the net for Co-Lin and had nine combined saves.
Northwest will return to the pitch on Friday, hosting non-division foe Pearl River at 2 p.m.
