Peter Geraci netted his second penalty kick of the year for the Rangers' lone goal in a 4-1 loss to the MACJC North Division Champions Itawamba on Friday afternoon at the ICC Soccer Complex.
Itawamba improved to 9-3-3 overall and 5-1-2 in the north, while Northwest fell to 6-3-2 and 3-3-1.
Evan Thomas' goal in the 17th minute and Michael Wathen's in the 26th gave ICC a 2-0 lead at half.
After falling behind 3-0 early in the second, Geraci connected on a penalty kick in the 81st minute to avoid the shutout before ICC capped the scoring with a Brayden Timmons goal in the 88th minute.
ICC outshot Northwest 16-11 on the day and held the Rangers to just three shots on goal.
Taylor Thevenot allowed a season-high four goals and had five saves, while two-time MACJC Goalkeeper of the Week Cullen Grantham needed just two saves to earn the win.
Northwest will wrap up the regular season on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at East Central at 4 p.m. The Rangers can clinch a spot in the state playoffs for the first time since 2009 with a win or tie.
