Castoria's Two Goals Push Rangers Past Eagles, 2-0

SENATOBIA – Sophomore Dylan Castoria netted his first goals since the 2010 season and Northwest picked up a big non-conference win Wednesday afternoon over Meridian, 2-0.

Northwest improved to 3-1 overall while Meridian evened its record to 2-2.

The Rangers dominated on both halves of the pitch, out-shooting the Eagles 18-4 (8-3 shots-on-goal) and drawing nine corner kicks.

Scoreless at the half, Castoria broke the tie in the 63rd minute when he chipped it in over Marlo Brinnon from 20 yards out. Castoria's scoring opportunity was setup perfectly by Muhamed Bojang, who picked up his team-leading third assist of the season.

Castoria added his second goal of the match in the 84th minute, this time using a perfect free kick from Peter Geraci from the opposite side of the field and beating the keeper to an open net.

Taylor Thevenot stopped three shots to earn win No. 3 on the young season, and Josh Delgado played the final 4:11 between the posts and kept the clean slate.

Northwest steps back into division play on Friday, traveling to Holmes (4-1, 1-1 MACJC). The match kicks off at 4 p.m. from Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland.
