SENATOBIA – Freshman Andrea Colston found the game-winning goal in the 82nd minute and Northwest held off a late run from East Central to earn a 3-2 win in its season finale Tuesday afternoon.
Northwest outshot East Central 21-9 on the day (17-6 shots-on-goal) and kept Lady Warrior goalkeeper Alana Turner busy with 14 saves.
Alex Young broke a scoreless tie in the 36th minute when she used a Yanira Cura assist. The Lady Ranger lead grew to 2-0 in the 51st minute when Kristin Young one-touched an effort from Emily Williams – the first time all year both sisters scored in the same match.
East Central, however, found some momentum and quickly got back into the match.
Morgan Luke's shot from 25 yards out sailed over the head of Ashlee Rogers for the score and 1:01 later Kelsey Tadlock beat the keeper to tie it at 2-2 in the 62nd minute.
The game stayed tied the ensuing 20 minutes before Colston's effort off Cura's second assist proved to be the game-winner at the 81:45-mark.
Northwest snapped a season-long four-match losing streak and closed the year at 5-8 overall and 2-6 in the north. East Central fell to 3-14 overall and 2-6 in the north.
