Fradenburg's Hat-Trick Buries Northwest, 4-1

SENATOBIA – Itawamba sophomore standout Hil Fradenburg increased his state-leading goal total to 19 with a hat-trick and the visiting Indians hit Northwest with its third consecutive north division loss on Friday afternoon at Ranger Soccer Field, 4-1. 

Itawamba improved to 8-5-2 overall with the win and remained all alone in first place in the north at 4-1-1. Northwest fell to 5-6-1 overall (2-3-1 north) and has been outscored 13-4 in its last three division losses. 

Scoreless through the opening 35 minutes, Fradenburg and the Indians struck first at the 35:19 mark, beating Ranger keeper John Denton off one of Will Goodwin's three assists on the day for the 1-0 lead.

Abraheem Saleh would stretch the Itawamba lead to 2-0 in the 52nd minute, scoring in an open net after Denton came out the defend the possible cross.

Fradenburg would strike two more times in the 59th and 76th minutes to complete the hat-trick, using two more Goodwin assists to push the Indian lead to 4-0.

Jesse Moore would get Northwest on the board in the 82nd minute to break the shutout, scoring his fourth goal of the year after taking a rebound off Fakhry Khulfan's shot off the crossbar.

Itawamba owned a 17-9 shot advantage (10-4 SOG) on the day, scoring four goals on Denton who ended the day with six saves. Clark Pennington had three saves for the Indians.

Northwest will try and bounce back on Monday, welcoming non-divisional foe Gulf Coast (10-4) to Senatobia for a 3 p.m. kickoff. The Rangers knocked off the Bulldogs 1-0 earlier this season in Perkinston, their first win since 2003 over Gulf Coast.
