Trio of Rangers to Compete for National Championships

Will Collier, Raegan Chance, and Dakota Smith will each take their shot Saturday Night in Casper, Wyoming.

CASPER, Wyo. - Three Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers will compete with athletes from around the country on Saturday night in Casper for a chance to claim a national championship in their respective rodeo disciplines.  Will Collier, Raegan Chance, and Dakota Smith will each take a shot inside the Ford Wyoming Center in hopes of becoming a champion at the College National Finals Rodeo.  The event will be broadcast live on ESPN+ beginning at 7:00 P. M. MDT / 8:00 P. M. CDT.

Collier will be first up in the Short Go on Saturday night.  The third-year steer wrestler from Malden, Missouri, currently sits in 6th place going into the final performance with a total time of 18.5 seconds on three head.  He is 6.3 seconds behind the leader, Andrew Morian, from Clarendon College.

Chance, the freshman from Mendenhall, goes into her final barrel race in 4th place, 0.65 seconds behind the leader – Devin Young – of Texas A&M University.  She will need her fastest time of the week to make her mark as a champion here.  She and her horse Sky are now comfortable in the big arena with the bright lights, making that a real possibility.

Smith currently occupies the 7th spot in bull riding with a score of 80.5 after his clean ride in Go 1.  Currently, five riders have ridden two bulls led by Hayden Welsh of Odessa College with a total score of 163.50.  Smith has the second highest score of those who have ridden one bull.  He must ride his final bull in order to have a shot at the top spot.  The sophomore from Kaufman, Texas, looks to leave his mark on college rodeo in the final event of the night.
