MERIDIAN – The Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers women's basketball (13-7, 4-2) fell 33-66 to the Meridian Community College Eagles (18-4, 6-2) on Monday night in their first road test since coming back from the ice storm as they continue in a stretch of 7 games in 15 days. 

From the moment the ball was jumped off, the Rangers struggled offensively. 

Leading scorer Dekyra Mitchell opened the game with an early three but would only find success at the foul line for the remainder of the game, finishing 1-15 from the field and 1-12 from three. Overall, the Rangers would struggle from the three-point line, only scoring two of their 25 attempts. 

The biggest punch came early in the game when the Eagles went on a 19-4 run after the opening basket from the Rangers. Northwest kept it at a 15-point game going into the half, but saw the momentum and energy slowly run out as the second half continued and the Rangers would be held to a season low 36 points in the game, only scoring double digits in one quarter with ten in the third. 

Overall, NWCC shot 20 percent from the field, going 12-60 from the floor. 

The brightest point of the game came from Alorian Story, who was able to garner her 11th straight double-double and 16th this season. Story is on track to break the school record for rebounds per game, averaging 13.95. The Northwest record is 12.9 from Chatica Hathaway (1995-97). Story is also 105 rebounds away from the Ranger total rebound record (763), also held by Hathaway. 

The Rangers (13-7, 4-2) will take on the Jones College Bobcats (17-5, 6-3) at home in Howard Coliseum at 5:30 p.m. this Thursday, February 12. You can stream the game starting at 5:20 pm on Ranger TV.
