HOLLY SPRINGS - Day one is in the books for the Northwest Mississippi Community College women's golf team as they host their inaugural Ranger Classic at Krikwood National Golf Course to kick off the season. The Rangers finished the first day sitting in second as a team behind defending national champion Shelton State Community College.
Individually, the Rangers were led by Analeigh Little who sits in a tie for fourth place after posting an 86 on the opening day. Little rallied from a 10-over front nine to par all but the 11th and 18th on the way to a 14-over round that leaves her only eight strokes behind the top spot of the tournament.Â
A cluster of NWCC players sit in the mid-teens in the standings led by Bella McNeil who shot 21-over with a consistent round on the course putting her in 15th place. A pair of Rangers sit in 17th as both
Maddie Baker and
Addison Forbes finished 23-over on day one.Â
Wrapping up the team effort for the Rangers was Sarah Niblett who finished in 28th on the day.Â
One other Ranger was in competition with Zae'Ja Davis finishing in 32nd after the opening day.Â
As a team, the Rangers finished with a 369 for a team score, only trailing Shelton State's 325. Third place is held onto by Calhoun Community College with a 374 and Snead State sits just behind with a 377 score from day one. The final team score in contention is Roane State Community College who posted a 423 on day one.Â
