SENATOBIA - In a fitting end to a strong 2023-24 season, the Northwest men's rodeo team saved one of its best performances for last at this weekend's Ranger Rodeo.
Boosted by average titles in steer wrestling and team roping, the Rangers finished with 650 team points and placed first out of 10 teams in front of the home crowd, winning its second rodeo event of the season.Â
Although it wasn't quite enough to unseat second place West Alabama in the NIRA Ozark Region standings, winning the Ranger Rodeo was an impressive feat, considering that first place Missouri Valley College won every other event this season. The only other rodeo that the Vikings did not win was the fall finale at Murray State, which was the other overall first place finish recorded by Northwest this season.
Northwest placed just 10 points above Missouri Valley, which finished with 640 team points. West Alabama placed third, notching 580 team points, while Murray State (265) and Southern Arkansas (200) rounded out the top five.
