LAS VEGAS - Northwest rodeo coach
Will Lummus will once again be in the national spotlight over the next couple of weeks, as he will compete in the upcoming Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.
This is Lummus' seventh straight trip to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, which is scheduled for December 5-14 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. Last season, he placed in three rounds, highlighted by a split go-round win in Round 10. He ended the week ranking 15th in the average standings.
In between his coaching of the Northwest rodeo program, Lummus has continued to compete across the country throughout 2024, winning six events this season. Some of his most notable victories came in the Steamboat Springs (Colo.) Pro Rodeo Series, Dodge City (Kan.) Roundup Rodeo and the Old Fort Days Rodeo in Fort Smith, Ark.
Meanwhile, Lummus has guided both the Northwest women's and men's rodeo programs to success during the fall portion of the 2024-25 NIRA Ozark Region schedule. The men's team earned three top five finishes, including a first-place victory in the Boll Weevil Stampede at the University of Arkansas-Monticello, while the women's team picked up three fourth place finishes and a third-place result in the fall finale at Murray State.
