Northwest Remains No. 4 in Latest NJCAA Rankings

CHARLOTTE - Despite earning three wins against Top 10 nationally-ranked foes in the last four weeks, Northwest continues to remain at No. 4 in the NJCAA's latest batch of rankings, released Monday afternoon.

Northwest (10-1) is coming off a 34-7 road triumph against previous-No. 7 East Central, a win that locked up the Rangers' third MACCC Championship in the past five seasons. The Warriors dropped down to No. 11 following the loss.

All top five teams from last week's rankings remained in the top five again this week, with the only change being Hutchinson (Kan.) and Georgia Military College swapping spots. The Blue Dragons (9-1) moved from third to second, while GMC (10-1) slid from the No. 2 spot to third.

Iowa Western (10-1) remains in the top spot, while Snow College (Utah) and Navarro College remain on the outside looking in for the NJCAA Division I Football playoff picture, sitting at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.

Among other MACCC programs ranked, Mississippi Gulf Coast (8-2) dropped another spot from eighth to ninth, while East Mississippi (5-4) moved up another spot from 15th to 14th. Holmes (7-3) stayed at the No. 13 slot, while Itawamba remains unranked, but receiving votes.

Northwest will spend another week awaiting official word on its national postseason fate, as three games remain to be played this Saturday. One of those involves No. 6 Navarro, as the Bulldogs face off against seventh-ranked Tyler Junior College in the SWJCFC Finals. Eighth-ranked Coffeyville (Kan.) and No. 10 Butler (Kan.) will also square off in a KJCCC battle.
