SENATOBIA - A late goal from
Tyler Starnes was the lone highlight for Northwest in a 3-1 loss to Copiah-Lincoln on Friday evening.
Northwest fell behind 2-0 in the first half, thanks to goals from Yohan Bedoya and Francisco Miquel in the 25th and 28th minutes, respectively. The Rangers remained in striking distance until the 78th minute, when Bedoya assisted Alvaro De La Torre on the clinching goal.
Starnes broke up the shutout with 55 seconds left, his team-leading eighth goal of the season.
Copiah-Lincoln totaled 28 shots for the match, including 16 in the second half. The Wolves also had 19 shots on-goal, while Northwest was held to just 12 total shots.
Jacob Little racked up 16 saves for the Rangers and played all 90 minutes. Two cautions were issued, one for each team, with
Rodrigo Bandeira being slapped with a yellow card in the 39th minute.
Northwest fell to 4-10-4 with the loss and 2-7-1 in the MACCC. The loss eliminated the Rangers from playoff contention, as Copiah-Lincoln moved to 7-4-2 overall and 4-4-2 in conference play.
Meridian will pay a visit to Northwest on Tuesday, October 29 at 7 P.M. The match will serve as the Rangers' season finale.
