No. 22 Northwest Drops Region 23 Tournament Match to Itawamba

Box Score ELLISVILLE - John David Nelson and Kaleb Parish were able to earn a win at No. 3 doubles for Northwest, but Itawamba still ended up earning a 5-1 victory in Thursday's NJCAA Region 23 Tournament quarterfinal match.

Nelson and Parish battled to a 9-8 win against the Indians' duo of William Morgan and Houston Walker, but the Rangers fell 8-0 at No. 1 and 8-2 at the No. 2 slot. From there, Itawamba took courts two, three and four in singles' play to clinch the match and advance to the next stage of the tournament.

Northwest fell to 6-8 with the loss, but impressively made the postseason in the first year of coach Will Irvin's revival of the program.
