Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 DECATUR - For the second time in the last three matches, Samuel Turner clinched the match for Northwest in singles competition, as the 24th-ranked Rangers edged East Central on the road by a 5-4 final.

Although Northwest swept the doubles matches, East Central picked up some key victories in singles competition on courts one through three. Bratton Willoughby kept the Rangers ahead with his victory in the No. 4 slot against Luke Sanders, while Turner broke the 4-4 tie with his victory in the No. 6 spot.

Meanwhile, the Lady Rangers fell in a 9-0 shutout to the 20th-ranked Lady Warriors, but the match was closer than it appeared on paper. East Central won two doubles matches in convincing fashion, but the duo of Amelia Anding and Grace Ann Wade made ECCC work for it in the No. 2 position, as the duo of Maggie Bounds and Ava Espey earned the 9-8 edge.

Wade and Raney Peacock battled to a third-set tiebreaker in the No. 3 and No. 4 positions, with Wade particularly battling through the third-set tiebreaker, eventually falling 14-12.

Northwest men's tennis now stands at 2-4 overall and 2-1 in the MACCC, while the Lady Rangers fell to 1-5 on the season and 1-2 in the conference. The Rangers and Lady Rangers will host Copiah-Lincoln on Tuesday, February 28, battling against the 21st-ranked Lady Wolves and No. 23 Wolves' men's team.

Tuesday's match is scheduled for 2 P.M. at the Ranger Outdoor Complex.
