Lady Rangers Close Out Season with Road Win

Caldwell scores team-high 15 points off the bench

WESSON - Northwest took an early lead and never looked back in Thursday's 87-79 road victory at Copiah-Lincoln, as the Lady Rangers saw their 12-game losing skid finally snapped.

Northwest led 23-16 after the first quarter and held a 42-35 advantage at halftime. The Lady Rangers pushed the lead to 66-53 by the end of the third quarter and held off the Lady Wolves' comeback effort in the fourth.

Taylor Caldwell led the Lady Rangers off the bench with 15 points, her fourth game in double figures this season. Kae'la Mitchell and Rebekah Pilcher accounted for 12 points apiece, with Pilcher also earning five rebounds.

Additionally, Alexus Lindsey fell just short of a double-double, finishing with 10 points and nine boards.

Northwest shot 46 percent from the floor and 42 percent from three-point range, while outscoring Copiah-Lincoln 39-20 off the bench, 40-32 in the paint and 25-13 in second chance points. The Lady Wolves shot 41 percent on the evening, but just 26 percent from beyond the arc.

Five Lady Wolves finished in double figures, led by 16 points from Leilani Lewis and 14 from Zykeria Anderson.

Northwest caps its season at 7-16 overall and 2-12 in the conference, while Copiah-Lincoln's record dropped to 16-9 on the season and 6-8 in the MACCC.
