LAS VEGAS - Although he didn't win the average at last week's Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, Northwest rodeo coach and professional steer wrestler Will Lummus capped off the event on a high note, winning the 10th and final round.

Lummus earned a time of 3.8 seconds in the round, which was his only first place victory of the week. Earlier in the week, he placed fourth in the seventh round and split a sixth place finish in the third round with Tyler Waguespack.

With the national finals rodeo in the books, Lummus now ranks 10th in the worldwide standings and seventh in the NFR Playoff Series standings.

As for Northwest rodeo, the Rangers will resume competition on the weekend of March 14-16 at East Mississippi, kicking off the spring portion of the NIRA Ozark Region schedule. Northwest currently ranks second in the men's region standings with 2,055 team points, while the women's team ranks 10th in the team standings.
