Lewis, Minshew to Represent Rangers in NFL Playoffs

SENATOBIA - When the National Football League Playoffs kick off this weekend, Northwest fans can be on the lookout for a pair of former Rangers competing to help their respective teams in the road to Super Bowl LVII.

Offensive lineman Damien Lewis (2016-17) will help his Seattle Seahawks (9-8) in a tough Wild Card battle at the San Francisco 49ers. The two-time NJCAA All-American and former LSU standout has played and started in 40 games on the Seahawks' front line, including 11 starts this season, helping pave the way for an offense that has collected over 2,500 rushing yards and nearly 3,600 passing yards this season.

Saturday's Seahawks-49ers game can be seen on FOX at 3:30 P.M. Central.

Meanwhile, former Northwest quarterback Gardner Minshew II (2015) and his top-seeded Philadelphia Eagles will enjoy a first-round bye, waiting for an opponent to be determined for next weekend. The Eagles are poised to be a serious Super Bowl contender, after winning the NFC East division and sporting a 14-3 overall record in the regular season.

Though he saw limited action this season as the Eagles' No. 2 quarterback, Minshew started a pair of late-season games in place of Jalen Hurts. The Brandon native and former Washington State signal-caller completed 44 passes for three touchdowns, while also rushing for a touchdown of his own. In all, Minshew has played in five games this season and has started 24 of his 32 games since being drafted in 2019 by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
