Manaca Keyes delivered a pair of 12-point efforts for Northwest, but the Lady Rangers' three-game winning streak came to an end with a 67-61 loss at Holmes on Monday evening.
Northwest led by a slim 24-23 margin at halftime, but were unable to withstand a strong second half surge from the Lady Bulldogs. Holmes turned the low-scoring affair into a 44-point second half effort, led by 15 points from Amaijah Smith, which all came in the second half.
Kae'la Mitchell also provided 11 points for Northwest in the loss, marking her fourth straight game in double figures. With the loss, the Lady Rangers fell to 6-5 on the season and 1-1 against MACCC competition.Â
Northwest will return to the friendly confines of Howard Coliseum on Thursday, January 12, as the Lady Rangers host No. 12 Jones College for a 5:30 P.M. tipoff. The Lady Bobcats (10-3, 2-0 MACCC) are coming off a pair of conference wins against Meridian and Mississippi Gulf Coast.
