CHARLOTTE - For the third straight poll, the Northwest football team remains deadlocked at No. 4 in Monday's latest NJCAA rankings.
Northwest (2-0) has opened up the 2022 campaign with a pair of close victories against Mississippi Gulf Coast and then-No. 14 Hinds. The top three teams - New Mexico Military Institute, Hutchinson (Kan.) and Iowa Western - remained in their respective slots.
Elsewhere in the MACCC, Jones College jumped from No. 9 to No. 6 following a beatdown of then-No. 5 East Mississippi, which slid down to ninth following the loss to the Bobcats. Hinds fell out of the rankings with its 0-2 start to the season, replaced in the No. 14 spot by Pearl River and Coahoma was unranked, but receiving votes.
Northwest will travel to newly-ranked Pearl River on Thursday, September 15 at 7 P.M. The Wildcats are 2-0 on the season after wins against Holmes and Northeast, and are ranked for the first time since 2014.
