Pro Wells Signed by USFL's Philadelphia Stars

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Former Northwest and TCU tight end Pro Wells is getting a second shot in the professional ranks, as the St. Petersburg, Fla. native has signed with the Philadelphia Stars of the rebooted United States Football League.

Wells started nearly every game for the Rangers during the 2017 season, helping Northwest to an 8-3 record, a runner-up finish in the MACJC and the Graphic Edge Bowl in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He finished with 19 receptions for 304 yards and two touchdowns, including a season-best five catches for 85 yards in a home victory against Coahoma on October 5.

Following Northwest, Wells spent three seasons with TCU and earned second team All-Big XII honors following the 2019 season. In his final season with the Horned Frogs, he caught 13 passes for 195 yards and three touchdowns, later signing an undrafted free agent deal with the Cincinnati Bengals for the 2021 season.

Based in Birmingham, the revived USFL consists of eight teams with similar names and logos resembling the original 1980s USFL organization. Owned by FOX Sports, all games and franchise operations are based in Birmingham for the inaugural season.

Wells' next game with the Stars (1-1) will take place Sunday, May 1 against the New Jersey Generals. Fans can watch the game live on Peacock, with other games throughout the season carried on FOX, NBC, FS1 and USA.
