Will Lummus to Compete in Fifth National Finals Rodeo

LAS VEGAS - Since making his first Wrangler National Finals Rodeo appearance in 2018, Northwest rodeo coach Will Lummus has cemented his presence in the international standings for steer wrestling.

Now, Lummus will be competing in the NFR for the fifth consecutive season, after posting several successful finishes in the regular season prior to his hiring in August. The event will be held at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas from December 1-10.

Lummus enters this year's event ranked fourth in the world standings after major wins at the San Antonio Stock Show, Rodeo Houston, Calgary Stampete and Cheyenne Frontier Days, just to name a few. Some of his fastest runs came in the Southeastern Circuit Finals (Davie, Fla.) and Gladewater Round-Up (Gladewater, Texas), where he posted season-best times of 3.3 and 3.4 seconds, respectively.

Lummus has an extensive résumé throughout the years, including most recently earning the title of Reserve World Champion in 2021. In 2020, he cracked the top 10 in the worldwide standings, earning a fifth place finish and qualifying once more for the Wrangler National Finals, winning Round Three and splitting the win in Round 10. He placed in three other rounds, finishing fourth in the NFR average with 52.3 seconds on 10 head.

Fans can follow Lummus and the rest of the action during the National Finals Rodeo beginning at 7:45 P.M. Central every night on The Cowboy Channel and RFD-TV. Both networks are available on cable, satellite and online at cowboychannelplus.com.
